About
A century of engineering honor
Eta Kappa Nu has recognized the best in electrical and computer engineering since 1904. The Psi Chapter carries that tradition at The University of Texas at Austin.
Our story
Eta Kappa Nu was founded in 1904 by Maurice L. Carr and nine fellow students at the University of Illinois, originally to help electrical engineering graduates find their footing in industry. More than a century later — now the honor society of IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization — it counts over 200,000 members across the globe.
The Psi Chapter is the home of IEEE-HKN at The University of Texas at Austin. We provide a venue for upper-division ECE honor students to meet each other, interact with the corporate world, and serve the department, the university, and the Austin community — from Peer Advising Night to K-12 outreach to the traditions that bind each pledge class to the last.
